Meet Dora McCotter-Hulett
Dora is an unstoppable force when it comes to inspiring customers and roasters to support DiscNW through Ultimate Coffee. Since day one, she has worked to grow the organization with cofounders Bison and Nobi. As a high-school senior, Dora is working to transition leadership to some of our younger volunteers.
We caught up with Dora in a brief interview...
What's your favorite part of volunteering for Ultimate Coffee?
My favorite thing about volunteering for Ultimate Coffee is being able to contribute to a community that is such a big part of my life and has given so much to me.
Where do you deliver to?
I don’t deliver coffee. My role is to coordinate with our roasters, place our weekly coffee orders and manage our outreach efforts.
What do you hope for with Ultimate Coffee in the coming year?
This year, I’m hoping that we can build more of a community for Ultimate Coffee volunteers and establish effective ways to reach more customers since we’ve struggled with that. I would also love to expand Ultimate Coffee to have chapters supporting other ultimate organizations that could use our model to fundraise.
What did you envision when you started Ultimate Coffee with a couple of your friends?
When we started Ultimate Coffee, it was mid-pandemic and I think we were all realizing what a big part of our lives Ultimate was when it was suddenly gone. When we realized how much ultimate had given to us, we were inspired to do what we could to help the community and love of the sport reach as many people which in our case meant starting Ultimate Coffee. Now that we’ve reached many of the goals we set when we founded the program, I couldn’t be more proud of our team for accomplishing what we set out to do.
What's your coffee order at a café?
I don’t drink coffee. But I can do latte art and I’ll drink a vanilla steamer if I’m at a cafe.
And lastly what's your favorite thing about ultimate?
I love ultimate because of the unique balance the sport offers between competition and community. I think that’s really hard to find and while it’s not always perfect it Ultimate, it’s closer than any other sport I’ve seen.
